LIVE CHAT [tonight]

Last month I had the privilege of hosting a live-online video chat with a fabulous photographer and dear friend- Allister Ann. Not only was it an awesome evening, but we had the opportunity to connect with other creatives from all over the country and this is exactly what got us excited about the idea in the first place.

TONIGHT….I will be hosting another live chat with an amazing designer/stylist and sweet, sweet friend….Vanessa Warren of ButterflySparks! Be sure and join us. It’s FREE. It’s EASY. We would love for you to join in on the conversation! We will be discussing LIFE, SOCIAL MEDIA and our latest COLLABORATION that was featured on a few of our most favorite blogs ["Creature Comforts" and "A Beautiful Mess"].

My DAD.

On June 15, 2010 my dad took residence in Heaven, with our Lord and Creator. What a loss this has been for me, but I am gaining new perspective everyday….on life, love, serving others and living as if Heaven matters most.

My dad was the best dad to his girls. There are four of us….and he loved us so so much.

My three sisters and I lead the Celebration Service in Orange County, CA on June 26th. Aside from the circumstance…the day was perfect, in every way. There was laughter and there were tears, but above all…a legacy was remembered, while we thanked God for blessing us with an amazing man who we got to call DAD.

I have some of the best friends in the world. The late night phone calls, hour long meetings at Starbucks that helped me clear my mind, the dinners, the cards, the Facebook and Twitter messages…..all of these things have made my days brighter. I have felt LOVED. Thank you!!

Below are photos, along with a video blog with details about some incredible moments that I encountered just moments before I received the phone call about my dads unexpected passing and where my heart is at today. Please take the TIME to watch it and my hope is that you leave my blog….encouraged and with a new perspective. My life has radically changed these past 30 days and I just wanted to share it with you…..Thank you for being a huge support to me. Your prayers and words of encouragement have made a huge impact on my life.

XOXO

the whyte house - such a beautiful post.

i lost my dad at age 13 and have spent almost 17 years without him. though i understood and was grateful that my dad didn’t have to endure pain anymore, it hurt. immensely. it’s been a life experience that has helped me grow, to not take things for granted and help others with their loss. now, after sharing 15 years of life and laughter with my stepdad, i am now having to watch his body and mind fall apart. i look forward to the day that he will no longer have to suffer, as well, but it breaks my heart to have to face that loss again. my heart aches for you and your family during this time, but rejoices with your dad’s new home address. you guys are in our prayers.

amelialyon - Wow, what a sweet tribute to your dad! I know this seems tough, but there is a new found peace in all of this if you can just trust that God has a plan for everything and we are all a big part of it. I pray for comfort to be with you at this time. The first year is the hardest, let yourself cry when you feel like it, then dry your eyes and continue forward. Take care!

The McFarland Family

This is one family who took advantage of my “beach sessions” while I was out in Balboa, CA in May. Meet Chris & Jami….& their new little addition to the family, Elle::

Chris McFarland was my boss….3 years ago, while I was working for the Luis Palau Association. I was on staff for the Nashville CityFest that took place in downtown Nashville in 2007. There is so much to say about this festival, but for now I’ll just tell you that my life and heart was dramatically changed in that season- it ROCKED my world. I am so very thankful. Chris and Jami travel from city to city- to help facilitate festivals. Right now they are stationed in San Diego, CA- gearing up for the San Diego Cityfest that will be taking place on September 11-12th.

I asked Chris & Jami a few questions about their adventurous LIFE, which is so inspiring and encouraging….take a few moments and get to know these people that I adore::

YOU HAVE AN AMAZING STORY TO SHARE ABOUT YOUR FAMILY:: Jami and I prayed about how to start our family and God led us to adoption as the way we should have our first child. Since that’s what He wanted we did exactly that and on Dec 29 of 2009 we submitted a letter to our adoption facilitator. Only three weeks later, we were called with the news that a birthmom had chosen us to be the parents of her child. We met her and the match was affirmed and our beautiful daughter was born on February 23, 2010, less than three months after submitting our letter to adopt. Definite affirmation that we were hearing clearly about what God wanted for our family. It’s an open adoption and that means we have a relationship with the mother and hang out with her from time to time.

TELL ME ABOUT SAN DIEGO CITYFEST:: San Diego CityFest is going strong. We are only two months away from the Festival where we will celebrate our Season of Service which will have seen more than 35,000 people do some sort of service work in the community. Those same people will bring their friends on September 11th and we will celebrate the work and share the Good News with all sort of other activities like freestyle motocross, skateboarding, bmx, veggietales and some of the best Christian artists out there.

LIFE AFTER ADOPTION:: As far as perspective on life after our daughter, it’s amazing to see God at work in creating our family. We started it over 11 years ago in 1999 when we got married and though we didn’t think we would have kids, here we are. Elle is a special gift that God orchestrated in our lives and He did so knowing he would bring number two along, which causes us to think even more about family and taking care of one another. Yes, number two is already on it’s way, due January 4. I learn daily how little control I have, but how much opportunity God gives, to influence our daughter, love my wife and live so that He might be worshiped and glorified by all of us.

OH MY GOODNESS!!!!!!! BABY #2 IS ON THE WAY!!!!
Chris & Jami…my LIFE has been forever changed because of the work that you wake up and do everyday. Your hearts are for LOVE and for PEOPLE…and this truly inspires me. Thank you for driving to meet me at the beach for our session. I loved every minute of it. I am thankful that God weaved a little bit of ours lives together in such a sweet season. I love you dearly! CONGRATS!!!

Brandon [my rad nephew]

Did you all have a wonderful 4th of July weekend? I hope my post from Friday was an inspiration to you….
I was honored to be featured on Creature Comforts and Elsie Flannigan’s blog ["A Beautiful Mess"] over the weekend. Seriously, those are two of my most favorite blogs….I’m still smiling over this!

My sweet husband surprised me with a little getaway to Rosemary Beach, FL. It was pure bliss and the timing of it all could not have been better. More to come on this….

Well, my nephew Brandon shares a birthday with America….so I thought I would give him a little spotlight here on the blog today. These were taken a few months ago, while I was out in California. I love my family….so much.

Brandon, I love you and I am excited to see where this new year takes you. GRAB HOLD OF YOUR DREAMS….and take a risk! There is no better time than right now. XOXO

July 6, 2010 -

Reed - Great Pics Kelli and Brandon! I am believing that the rest of 2010 will be great for you. You are a super smart and hardworking guy. A great job that you’re passionate about is right around the corner.

In the waiting, instead of getting frustrated with current circumstances (like so many of us do-including myself in the past), sharpen your skills, so you can be ready for what’s ahead! Keep me posted and let’s stay in touch!

Have a great week.
